DEADLINE ON MONDAY FOR LETTER JACKET CONTEST - The Panther Boosters are giving away a letter jacket to a Flagler High School student! To enter: students individually create a poster, chant, TikTok-style video, or song that pumps up school pride. The more creativity, the better! The contest is open from today (10/6) through 10/20. LITTLE TACKLER TIME CHANGE - Little Tackler practice is now at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 19th.

YOUTH HEALTH FAIR OPT OUT -All Freshmen and Sophomores will be attending the Colorado State University Extension and Public Health Youth Health and Safety Fair at Limon School on October 22nd from 9 am - 2 pm. It will highlight a wide range of health and safety topics, including biosecurity, kitchen safety, mental health, financial wellness, disaster preparedness, self-defense, and understanding nutrition labels. Students will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities designed to engage and inform them.

MINI CHEER CAMP REGISTRATION - If your PK - 8th Grader would like to participate in the Mini Cheer Camp but has not turned in their form, please email Mrs. Beth at bmccullough@af20.net by the end of TODAY (10/16) their name and shirt size so they can receive a shirt. Students can still register after today, they just won't receive a t-shirt.

Practices are at 4:15 PM on 10/22 and 10/23, and at 4:05 PM on 10/24. They will then perform at halftime of the Football Game on 10/24. The cost is $20 and the funds raised will go to the FHS Pom Team.

LOCATION CHANGE FOR VOLLEYBALL TOMORROW - Due to a gas leak, the volleyball games for tomorrow, October 16th will now be at the LAMAR COMMUNITY BUILDING. Games will still start at 4:00 and play C, JV, and V. No gate will be charged, and it is unknown if they will have concessions.

Human Trafficking in Kit Carson County Training for Parents and Community Members, Thursday, October 30th, 6-8 PM, Hi-Plains School and Kit Carson Fairgrounds - Join the Laboratory to Combat Human Trafficking in collaboration with Kit Carson County Department of Human Services for an important training on how human trafficking is impacting our state and region. This training will explore the root causes of trafficking and the myriad of intersecting identities, vulnerabilities, and social and systemic inequalities that can lead to trafficking. Understanding root causes and complex trauma is key to recognizing the crime in its many forms. Learn how the experiences of people with unmet needs may intersect with labor and sex trafficking, and how school staff and administration, Department of Human Services, healthcare professionals, service providers, and the community can be involved in the response. Everyone is encouraged to wear red tomorrow (10/6) for Dyslexia Awareness Month.

ASVAB TEST - Due to the Government Shutdown, the ASVAB test for Juniors that was scheduled for Tuesday, 10/7 has been postponed until further notice.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES - Parent/teacher conferences are tomorrow, 10/3. All K-5th Graders should have received information on a meeting time from the classroom teacher. All 6th-12th Grade teachers will be available in their classrooms from 8 AM - 4 PM for anyone who would like to visit with them.

ADDED JH FOOTBALL GAME - A JH Football Game has been added for this Thursday, October 2nd, at Home versus Kiowa. Kick-off is at 4:30 PM.

CONDUCT AT SPORTING EVENTS - We love seeing our students come to support their friends and family at athletic events and other extracurricular activities! As a reminder, we ask that everyone follow the expectations outlined in the Student/Parent Handbook:
- Students in grades PK–8 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or another responsible adult.
- All students are expected to follow the Code of Conduct at all times while on school premises, including guidelines on dress code, language, and the use of tobacco products.
