Basketball update: The games in Bethune on Friday will start at 3:00 PM. It will be JH Girls A, JH Girls B (1/2), JH Boys A, Varsity Boys. They are not asking for a gate list, but you will need to sign in when you arrive. For Saturday's games in Byers, they are still not allowing visiting fans. The games are available on the NFHS Network.
Staff & School Community: Now that Kit Carson County is in Blue, and numbers have improved, we will be making some changes to our COVID Protocols. First and foremost, please stay home if you're sick! Everyone has been doing a great job of this, and it has definitely helped with attendance due to the typical cold and viral spread we see during this time of year. We are discontinuing all screenings at this time, including staff check-ins, student temp screening, and visitor temp checks/screening questionnaires. The mask order is still in effect and masks are still mandatory inside the school building. Additionally, masks are still mandatory on the bus and students need to make sure to put them on before boarding. The bus drivers do not need to keep asking the kids to do it every day. Teachers and parents, remember to please help with this before they board. The same expectation goes for students traveling to extracurricular and sports activities, even if in a small vehicle. Community/visitors are welcome to use the school facilities. This includes the weight room. The expectation is that individuals wipe down any and all equipment after using it. The same expectation is for students. If you're not sure, it never hurts to wipe beforehand also. Community/visitors are welcome to use the kitchen/cafeteria. Here's a link to state rules:https://covid19.colorado.gov/restaurants-food-services, but these are the major ones that are expected: Outdoor dining is encouraged if at all possible. Tables should be spaced six feet apart. All workers/servers/etc. must wear masks and gloves. We have plenty in the office, and if you need any, let us know. Food handling guidelines have not relaxed. Disinfect tables and seats after each party leaves, and before any party sits at the space. Make sure the cafeteria is ready again for the next day's breakfast. Condiments/extras must be served--no self-service/buffet style food. Northwest restrooms will be closed during games. Restrooms in the high school hallway are accessible. Indoor events are capped at 175 persons, and shouldn't be a problem for most all of the events we are looking forward to planning for kids this winter/spring! If you are interested in scheduling an event at the school, please contact the office for a building use form. If you have any questions/concerns, please contact the school office. Thank you!
