Basketball is right around the corner! Practice begins on Monday and our first game is on January 26. This season will be very different than normal. While we are happy that our students get the chance to participate, it is also human nature to be frustrated with the situation as is. We ask that you assist us in following all protocols to ensure that our students will continue having the opportunity to play. We will be limited to 50 fans per game. We will be asking our student athlete's to provide a gate list for us. If you are not on the list, you will not be able to attend the game in-person. We are sorry about this, but we want to give priority to the family of those students that are playing. Games will be streamed on the NFHS network for those that are not able to attend in person.
Some good student work in honor of Dr. King.
Basketball Update: The Flagler Basketball schedule is posted on the district website. Go to af20.net, click menu, click documents, select activities, then select athletics schedules. This schedule is subject to change. We will be sending out further updates regarding in-person attendance to games at a later date. You can also follow Flagler hoops on the NFHS Network. Go to nfhsnetwork.com to create a user account. The fee is $69.99 for a year or $10.99 per month. Once you have an account you can watch games live and/or on demand.
Basketball Update: CHSAA has received variance approval from CDPHE for basketball to begin on January 18th. The first allowable contest date is January 25th. The regular season will conclude on March 6th. This season will certainly not be "normal" by any stretch. All participants will be required to wear a mask, on and off the court. We are told that medical waivers (to avoid mask-wearing) will not be accepted as athletics are a privilege and not a right. The potential presence of fans will depend on the county COVID dial level. This could vary week to week and county by county. We will update you on details regarding fans and with information for viewing games on the NFHS Network when we get closer to game dates.

Winter and Spring sports update. The proposed start of basketball season has been moved to January 25, with competition from February 1-March 20. Volleyball practice is scheduled to begin on March 15, with competition from March 22-May 8. Track is scheduled to begin practice on May 3, with competition from May 10-June 26. CHSAA is meeting with state officials again on January 14, so we hope they get approval for these dates at that time.
Arriba-Flagler will be creating a virtual Christmas program this year. Elementary classes will be doing some class/group performance videos within their own classrooms and we will combine these into one video that can be accessed and shared by our families. We would also like to invite all parents and all students to submit pictures or up to 2-minute videos of students individually (or siblings) that we can add to the Christmas program. Your child (ren) may have a special talent, poetry or verse recital, or even a short story to share their celebration of Christmas! If you could please submit your videos to Mrs. McCleary at email@example.com, by Monday, Dec. 14, we would love to include them! Thank you!

It is a pleasure to update the Honoring our Veterans page on our website: https://www.af20.net/page/honoring-our-veterans We have posted more pictures--our Veterans Day Cards Project and a video from our elementary students! Thank you, Veterans!
We are disappointed that our school closure has forced us to alter our plans for our Veteran's Day Program. We still want to show our veterans and active-duty military service members how much we appreciate their service and sacrifice. Please help us by sending your child's thank you video or artwork to their teacher so we can post it to our website. Thank you!
